Education and Empowerment

The education and empowerment of women and girls is smart policy, smart business, and vital to enhancing the cultural and social fabric of the communities in which they work and live.

Quote:
“A Modest Garden Contains for those who know how to look and wait, more instruction than any library”. Henri Frederick Amiel

According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, giving women the same access to productive resources as men could increase yields on their farms by 20-30 percent and lift 100-150 million people out of hunger.

Through at- site trainings as well as global technological exchange, GROW supports participant self-sufficiency by building literacy in health, education, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. GROW International distinguishes its purposes and methodologies from existing non-profit organizations by simultaneously employing a smorgasbord of Technical Entrepreneurial and Academic Training, Information Technology, Social Media, and Interpersonal Peer Exchanges to promote quality life outcomes.
We help build women ’s capacity to become more efficient and successful with agricultural/aqua-cultural extensions, micro commerce, and strategic networking.

We have developed a series of real time and virtual health, literacy, and entrepreneurial education and training modules; providing integrated global strategies that prepare and position participants to identify and avail life enriching opportunities.

Curriculum Development

We have a curriculum designed to engage students and teach them lessons that involve growing food (and herbs), developing a sense of community, nutrition and health, respect for the environment, and developing social studies and communication skills. Lessons are also designed to integrate concepts taught in traditional math, science, language, and social studies classes. We believe that getting children involved with gardening and cooking builds a strong foundation for respect of the environment and stimulates greater wellness through knowledge and application of healthy choices.
Moreover, the children share their garden experiences with pen and pc pals across the world. This participation is a character building global activity that inspires imagination, research, virtual travel, and builds communication skills. It also helps to promote self reliance, plus international tolerance, understanding, sharing, and other positive character attributes.

Fund Raising

A major part of our work includes developing funds to support the holistic health, education, and financial literacy of economically disadvantaged women; and those who farm for subsistence. While our primary work is targeted to markets across the African continent, we also have special programs designed for work within inner- city areas, here in the United States. Here, we foresee working primarily with children; promoting activities in gardening, nutrition, and healthy living in urban communities.
